Vijay Wadettiwar is one name in the OBC agitation, not the only face. OBC means Other Backward Classes. He is a Congress MLA from Vidarbha. On 20 September 2026 in Nagpur he told office-bearers from 11 Vidarbha districts that a separate OBC column in the caste census is the clear demand. If the population figure does not come out, the question of seats and reservation will get serious. Scholarships on time, and the quota that exists now not being cut, were also in his line.
This is the position on 3 October 2026. The line is a statement and a news report. Not a court order. The size of 1 November is still left to a joint meeting.
What he set out
The calendar has three dates. Taluka satyagraha on 2 October, on Gandhi Jayanti and Shastri Jayanti. District marches on 25 October. Chalo Delhi from 1 November. The plan sits on the Delhi meeting of 13 September 2026. About 65 organisations were in that meeting. The country-wide shape of 1 November is to be fixed in a joint meeting. That is his own line. Not a fixed crowd.
National Herald and The Times of India printed the Nagpur meeting. Reports placed it around 19 or 20 September. This page keeps 20 September, because that is the date in this story’s line. The two dates are not one order. The meaning is the call.

The demand is the column
The form has a column for SC and ST. It does not have a separate column for OBC. In 2011 castes were written by hand, and the data could not be read. So the demand is for a column named OBC, and a drop-down. With a drop-down the person doing the count picks the caste from a list, and does not write it. A column being added will not raise the Centre’s 27 percent by itself. 27 is the share in jobs and college. The column is the population number.
Wadettiwar says that if the number does not come, representation will get tangled. That is his argument. 51 percent or 70 percent is not a printed figure from this meeting. 51 is Madhya Pradesh’s affidavit. 70 is the Hazaribagh morcha’s claim. Do not turn either into Wadettiwar’s number.
Not one face
In Jharkhand the Central Backward Classes Struggle Committee is a different name. A block is called on 6 October in Khunti, Gumla, Ranchi, Simdega and Lohardaga. That is not Wadettiwar’s Nagpur programme. In Maharashtra Laxman Hake is on the Kunbi certificate front. 22,20,577 is his claim, not a government table. Jarange’s demand is the OBC quota through genealogy. Wadettiwar’s demand is the census column. The two are not one fight.
On 20 September there was a separate OBC Mahasabha meeting at Constitution Club. Dharmendra Kushwaha spoke of Jantar Mantar if the column is not in before the next Parliament session. That line is a separate statement from Wadettiwar’s 1 November.
This will not give a letter
The 87:13 held recruitment in Madhya Pradesh runs on a department order. The Bengal certificate case is a High Court comment. The 40 percent pass demand in Uttar Pradesh’s 68500 teacher recruitment is the board’s table. Wadettiwar’s speech does not change the result of any of these. Match the roll number on your own portal.
Pages in the same line: Chalo Delhi on 1 November, the separate column, today’s agitation and Maratha and OBC.
A simple example
A speech happened in Nagpur. Office-bearers from 11 districts were there. That does not mean a bus from 11 districts is confirmed for 1 November. A date was given. A seat list was not. The satyagraha in Bhandara on 2 October was the taluka programme. 25 October is the district march. 1 November is Delhi. The three dates are not one day.
The numbers here are the numbers in the reports. 20 September. 11 districts. 13 September. About 65 organisations. 2 October, 25 October, 1 November. No crowd number. No ticket list.
A school holiday does not come from this speech. 2 October has passed. 25 October is the march in your district. 1 November is Delhi. Read the three posters apart. A yellow scarf is a colour, not a crowd number.
The gap between a speech and an order
The Nagpur speech is a call. Not a gazette. A notice adding the column is issued by the census office or the ministry. Wadettiwar is not an officer of that office. His line is a demand. Whether the demand is met is what a notice will show. The meeting of 65 organisations on 13 September is also the base of the call. 65 is about. An official attendance list was not in these reports.
For the person filling a form, the line is separate. In a central job check the central OBC list and the non-creamy-layer certificate. In a state job check the state list. The column demand does not change these papers. The creamy layer limit of 8 lakh is from 2017. In March 2026 the government said there is no proposal to raise it. This speech does not turn that limit into 15 lakh.
A satyagraha was seen in Bhandara on 2 October. That was the local shape of the taluka programme. The full Delhi plan is not its result. On 25 October read your district’s poster. Treat it as real only if the date and the place are written, whether the name is Wadettiwar’s or a committee’s.
Advice:
The plain point is this. Wadettiwar is a Congress MLA. On 20 September in Nagpur he set out the OBC column demand. The calendar is 2 October, 25 October and 1 November. The size of 1 November is for a joint meeting. He is not the only leader. The Jharkhand block and the Maharashtra Kunbi certificate are different fronts. This speech will not give an appointment letter. Do not take a crowd in lakhs yet. If a group quotes a seat rate, do not send money. Treat the column as added only when a government notice is visible.
