The letter is reported by newspapers. A final court order is a separate document. Not legal advice. 3 October 2026.
Rahul Gandhi wrote to Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on 22 September 2026. The letter made two demands. Implement 27 percent OBC reservation, and issue appointment letters to candidates selected for the 13 percent posts held under the 87:13 split. It said those candidates had been waiting since 2022, after the exam and the selection process. That is a demand, not a recruiting-board order.
The letter came after Indore
Chhatron Ki Goonj was held in Indore on 19 September 2026. Rahul cited that conversation. Students raised education, jobs and stalled appointments. That is the letter’s claim. Amar Ujala and Hindustan reported the line on all-party support. The letter said every party had backed 27 percent, and the issue was still unresolved. A citation of support is not a judgment.
4.87 lakh is not a figure from this letter
A line about 4.87 lakh posts is circulating on some posts. It did not appear in the reports of the 22 September letter. The 87:13 path is a 2022 arrangement, not an eight-year-old formula. Do not put the lakh slogan and this letter in one sentence. An October 2025 recruitment report counted held posts at a little over ten thousand. That too is a newspaper tally, not a number from this letter.
The reply is a statement, not the letter
On 24 September minister Vishwas Sarang hit back. He spoke of a commitment to 27 percent, and of a reward for reading the letter aloud. That reply is not an order either. The hold list opens on a roll number when the department uploads an order. Related pages: what Sarang said, when the appointment letter comes, the 87:13 formula and is 27 percent in force.
Advice:
Do not treat this letter as an appointment order. The 13 percent hold and the wait since 2022 are the letter’s claim. Do not turn 4.87 lakh into a figure from this letter. Match the roll number on MPPSC, the employee selection board, or the department site. A date stuck on WhatsApp is not an order.
