Whose number is 13 crore?
The most repeated figure in the 2026 SIR row is 13 crore. BBC wrote of about 130 million names struck off, citing the Commission. CJP’s Ashutosh Ranka and opposition leaders turned that scale into an accusation. Abhishek Manu Singhvi used the same deletion language. The figure is about removal. That every removed name was an eligible voter is a separate claim and is not proved.
The Commission says revision cleans duplicates, deaths and ineligible entries. The protest says eligible names went. One number does not state two motives. Without a state-wise list the slogan is incomplete.
What a 2025-list freeze would mean
CJP wants the 2025 voter list frozen and SIR stopped. A freeze, in that demand, means no further cuts or adds until the process is reviewed. It is an administrative demand. It is not confirmed as accepted. Sharing “freeze done” would be false.
Form 6 is the new-voter application. The Indian Express report mentioned internal questions on forms and ECINet. A software objection is not proof of data theft without an audit. The reader’s question is simpler: which dated roll had my name, and which has it today.
Both sides in one place
Side one: 13 crore is huge, a deletion that large cannot be error-free, and 14 internal objections raise a process question. Side two: a huge roll needs a huge clean-up, removing duplicates is democratic work, and final orders were described as unanimous. Printing both is reporting.
