International Day of the Girl Child 2026: Posters and Awareness Message

International Day of the Girl Child 2026 is on 11 October. The UN set the date on 19 December 2011 by resolution 66/170. It was first observed in 2012. In Hindi it is अंतरराष्ट्रीय बालिका दिवस। The 2026 theme is End child marriage and invest in girls’ rights. This page is for awareness posters and plain lines.

What Girl Child Day 2026 asks

A girl’s childhood is school, play, and her own decisions. Early marriage cuts that childhood. The UN and UNICEF put that wall in the centre this year. India has a law. In many houses a wedding is still planned before a school year. A poster on 11 October is useful only if a sister’s notebook and bicycle both stay safe at home.

A small decision at home

School fees and a bus pass belong to a daughter as much as a son. Do not meet night study with “what will you do with this”. If a neighbour’s girl is leaving class, ask the family once — not a lecture, a question. Child marriage is not a rite. It is against the law. Send the poster. Then keep the enrolment.

After 11 October

One hashtag is not the year. Three things last: school, a safe road, and weight given to her voice. That is when International Day of the Girl Child 2026 is complete.
