Camera phones under ₹20,000: decide what you will shoot
Are you buying a phone for family photographs at night or for videos recorded with the selfie camera? That distinction matters before spending ₹20,000. One model may combine a capable-looking main-camera specification with faster charging, while another offers a recording feature you need. This guide compares two candidates by use rather than declaring an untested camera winner.
Quick direction: Investigate the Samsung Galaxy M36 5G if front-and-rear 4K recording matters. Check the realme NARZO 80 Pro 5G if main-camera use and fast charging are priorities. This is a specification-based shortlist, not a hands-on image-quality ranking.
Research date: 23 October 2026. Live checkout prices and stock have not been confirmed for every variant and postcode. A candidate qualifies for this budget only when the final payable amount is within ₹20,000. Historical launch and sale offers below are explicitly not current deals.
Samsung Galaxy M36 5G: check it for front-camera video
Samsung’s India announcement lists a 50MP OIS main camera, a 13MP front camera and 4K recording on both sides. It supports 25W charging. Start with the 8GB/128GB variant when comparing costs.
The June 2025 announcement listed ₹17,999 for 8GB/128GB including an introductory bank discount. This is historical context, not a current price claim. Include any charger cost and fees. Read the original announcement and the exact variant specification.
Who should investigate it: buyers who talk to the front camera or want 4K available on both sides. Resolution alone does not establish better colour, audio or stabilisation.
realme NARZO 80 Pro 5G: main camera plus charging
The Indian specifications list a 50MP OIS main camera, 16MP selfie camera, rear 4K/30fps and front 1080p/30fps. A 6000mAh battery, 80W charging and an included 80W adapter are the other considerations. Compare 8GB/128GB first.
An older realme anniversary promotion listed ₹19,999 MOP and ₹17,999 after discount for 8GB/128GB. Do not treat it as a Diwali 2026 deal. Check the official specifications and the historical offer context separately.
Who should investigate it: buyers using the rear camera and prioritising charging. If front-camera 4K is essential, understand its selfie recording limit first. A higher selfie megapixel number does not remove that limit.
| Phone | Main / selfie | Video: rear / front | Charging | Price status |

| realme NARZO 80 Pro 5G | 50MP OIS / 16MP | 4K30 / 1080p30 | 80W | Live checkout unconfirmed |

For night photography, inspect faces as well as lights
FACT: OIS helps compensate for hand movement; it does not guarantee a sharp moving child. Photographing stationary festive decorations and capturing candid family moments are different tasks. Neither an OIS label nor a sensor name establishes the best camera.
Inspect faces, detail near bright lights and noise in dark areas. A pleasing photograph of diyas does not show how naturally the same camera renders people indoors. Some processing may brighten the scene or smooth faces more than you prefer. Match the sample scene to what you actually photograph.
Open original files where possible. Images taken by different reviewers in different lighting cannot settle a controlled head-to-head comparison. The feature image and posters in this guide are illustrations, not samples taken with either candidate.
Selfies and video: 4K is only one part of the decision
Along with resolution, check walking stability, focus transitions and sound. With permission to use a demonstration unit, record one short stationary clip and another while walking slowly. Try both cameras in the mode you will actually use. Do not compare different modes and assume the result applies everywhere.
Your preferred 1080p result may be sufficient for everyday sharing. A 4K file may provide more flexibility for editing or cropping, but stabilisation can vary by resolution and files may take more space. Verify the exact supported mode instead of assuming that every camera feature works together.
For selfies, disable beauty effects and examine faces, hair and indoor lighting. The 13MP and 16MP labels do not determine which photograph you will prefer. Check front-camera video separately: still photographs and recorded video can look different even on the same phone.

Keep the exact variant and complete cost within budget
Compare the same storage tier. A low 8GB/128GB price must not be placed beside the name of an 8GB/256GB version. If you store substantial video, investigate 256GB, but judge that version using its own checkout price.
Write down the regular price, the discount your card qualifies for and the exchange value separately. Exchange involves giving up your existing device; it is not an unconditional discount. With EMI, include interest and processing fees before comparing it with an upfront payment.
Add any required charger, delivery and payment charges. Read the invoice, Indian warranty and return or replacement policy. Compare the same model and variant across a brand store, a reputable retailer and a local shop. No affiliate store ID is included in this article.
Our advice: when is the extra spending justified?
If front-camera 4K is a firm requirement, investigate the total Galaxy M36 5G cost first. If rear-camera use and charging are the priorities, check the NARZO 80 Pro 5G price and stock. These are use-based directions, not results of our own camera testing.
When moving up from ₹15,000, name the concrete benefit you are paying for: a recording mode, samples you prefer or necessary storage. Spending more only because a phone appears in a higher-budget list is not a useful decision rule. Check remaining software support and warranty as well.
If neither candidate is available at an acceptable price, waiting or examining another available model is reasonable. A longer list is not automatically more helpful. Current stock, the correct variant and the final payment matter more than filling a fixed number of places.
