Shah Rukh Khan turns 61 today, November 2, 2026. Born in New Delhi on November 2, 1965, the actor is celebrating his 61st birthday, rather than his 59th or 60th. The occasion brings renewed interest in his journey from television to Hindi cinema, the National Award he received for Jawan and his next film, King. His career offers several different entry points for viewers, from intense early characters to romance, comedy and large-scale action.
Shah Rukh Khan birthday: the essential facts
Name: Shah Rukh Khan, also known as SRK
Date of birth: November 2, 1965
Birthplace: New Delhi, India
Age on November 2, 2026: 61
First released Hindi film: Deewana (1992)
Upcoming film: King, officially scheduled for December 24, 2026.
How old is SRK in 2026?
The answer is 61. Birthday coverage from earlier years can remain visible in search results and return to social feeds without its original context. Khan turned 59 in 2024 and 60 in 2025. For this year, subtracting 1965 from 2026 gives 61, and his birthday falls today. The date matters when reading an old headline: an article describing a different birthday should not be treated as a current age update.
From television to Deewana
Khan worked in television before entering films. Deewana, released in 1992, became his first released Hindi film. Early performances in Baazigar and Darr helped establish a screen presence that was not confined to a conventional heroic mould. That willingness to take on unsettling characters is an interesting starting point for anyone who knows him mainly through his later romantic image. His film journey is broader than any single nickname suggests.
A birthday watchlist by mood
Rather than treating his filmography as a ranking, viewers can approach it through contrasting styles. Dil Se offers emotional intensity, Om Shanti Om celebrates the spectacle of cinema, and Chennai Express takes a comic route. Jawan provides a large-scale action experience, while Dunki has a different tone. These are editorial viewing suggestions, not a list of films currently available on any particular streaming service. Availability depends on the platform and region, so check the relevant service before planning a watch.
The Jawan National Award milestone
Khan received the Best Actor honour for Jawan at the 71st National Film Awards, sharing the category with Vikrant Massey for 12th Fail. It was Khan’s first National Film Award. The awards recognised films from 2023, with the winners announced on August 1, 2025. An older biography claiming that he has never won a National Film Award is therefore out of date. Separating a film’s release year from the year of an awards announcement also avoids a common source of confusion.
King: what is confirmed?
The official Red Chillies Entertainment page lists King for release on December 24, 2026, with Siddharth Anand as director. Birthday coverage has also brought a new music update: NDTV Profit reported on November 2 that Tu Mil Jaaye, featuring Khan and Deepika Padukone, had been released. A song launch is a promotional release, not the theatrical release of the whole film. Readers looking for the film itself should keep the December date in view.
Family, fans and the photographs in this article
Khan is married to Gauri Khan, and their children are Aryan, Suhana and AbRam. His public relationship with admirers is also part of his enduring screen image: a wave, folded hands and the familiar open-arms pose are instantly recognisable elements of fan photographs. The three photographs included here were supplied by a reader. Their original capture dates have not been independently verified, so they are presented as reference images rather than evidence of a November 2, 2026 appearance.
