An October morning leaves the throat rough. Sun at noon, a light chill at night. The fan ran on the face, and the voice is sitting low. This is not the name of a big illness. A home remedy stops here. Fever, trouble breathing, or a scratch that lasts past three days, then a doctor.
In Indore these days the morning is mist and the evening air is cold. The throat dries, then it scratches. A sneeze is a separate thing. Do not treat the two as one medicine.
Where the scratch comes from
A fan on the mouth all night. A window open to cold air in the morning. Too little water. A dusty road on the way home. That is enough for a sitting voice. The viral name comes later, when the body aches and a fever climbs.
A morning sneeze is common in October. The nose reacts to cold air. A sneeze does not by itself make a scratch. When the nose blocks and breath goes through the mouth, the throat dries. Keep a handkerchief. Wash the hands.
The gargle
One glass of warm water. Half a small spoon of salt. Gargle, do not swallow. Two or three times in the day. Do not take boiling water. It will burn the throat. A child does not gargle well. Give them only warm water, not a salt sip.
One spoon of honey in warm water. Do not give honey to a child under one year. A thin slice of ginger is chewed. Too much raw ginger can upset the stomach. Washed tulsi leaves are chewed. This is a home practice, not a tested drug.
Fan and a cover
The fan does not have to go off. Lower the speed. Do not let it hit the mouth. Cover the throat and the chest. October’s pink chill does not ask for a quilt. A thin sheet is enough. Do not put a thick sweater on a child first thing. Noon sun brings sweat, evening brings cold again. That loop brings the sneeze.
Keep the school-bus window up if the wind is sharp. Give a handkerchief. The water bottle will not stay warm, but do not send it empty.
The platelet remedy
People search for a desi trick to raise platelets in a viral fever. Papaya leaf, giloy, kiwi. Those are home sayings. A lab counts platelets, a chutney does not. Red marks with a fever, or heavy weakness, then a hospital. A desi kadha is not a doctor’s place.
Do not count platelets by feeding kadha to a scratchy throat. The two questions are separate. If the scratch is not lighter in three days, get it checked.
When to stop the home remedy
Fever over 100. Sharp pain on swallowing. Voice gone for two days. A child dull, not drinking. A whistle in the breath. A gargle is not enough there. A nearby doctor, or 104 and 108, is the useful number. This page does not write a medicine.
Do not run an old strip. An antibiotic without a slip does not cut a scratchy throat. A cold mostly eases on its own, with rest and water.
Do not drink the tea boiling hot. The throat dries further. Leave cold milk at night. Two extra glasses of water in the day, not on top of tea. Keep the steam bowl away from the face. Do not sit a child by the steam. The burn risk is higher than the comfort.
An office AC run all night sits the throat by morning. Keep a scarf on the throat, not for show. Gargle after a dusty bike ride. That is what the house can do. The rest is a doctor’s work.
Advice:
This morning, warm water and a salt gargle. Honey for adults. A child gets only warm water. Lower the fan, cover the throat. The sneeze comes from October’s cold morning. Fever, or a scratch past three days, then a doctor. A platelet remedy is not a lab.
This is a home practice, not treatment. Fever, trouble breathing, or a dull child, see a doctor. The site does not guarantee a remedy.
