Audio Volume Booster Online – Increase MP3 Volume

Audio Volume Booster Online – Increase MP3 Volume

Recording too quiet? Increase the volume of an audio file, compare it with the original and download a new MP3 or WAV. You can also lower a file that plays too loudly.

Increase or reduce audio volume

Choose audio up to 25 MB and 5 minutes. Change volume from 25% to 500%, compare the original and export MP3 or WAV. Processing stays in this browser.

Quick volume:

This caps the whole file’s gain when a loud peak would exceed −0.1 dBFS. It is not a compressor, noise remover or true-peak limiter.

How to increase audio volume online

  1. Choose a playable audio file up to 25 MB and 5 minutes.
  2. Start with 150% or 200%. You can enter any volume from 25% to 500%.
  3. Leave the clipping protection checked for a first attempt. Check the applied volume shown below it.
  4. Choose MP3 and its bitrate, or WAV for 16-bit PCM output.
  5. Create the download. Play the original and the result at the same device volume to compare.
  6. If it sounds clear, download the adjusted file. If it sounds harsh or noisy, lower the percentage and create it again.

What do 100%, 200% and 500% mean?

100% uses a gain of one. 200% doubles the sample amplitude, which is roughly a 6 dB increase when protection does not reduce it. It does not mean the sound will feel exactly twice as loud. 500% requests a gain of five. For a quieter export, use 50% or 25%.

For example, a quiet voice note with a sample peak around −20 dBFS can receive a 200% increase without reaching the protection ceiling. A recording already near full scale may have very little room for an increase. The tool scans both channels and uses one gain for the whole file, preserving the stereo balance.

Why is the applied volume lower than I selected?

The default protection caps the gain when the loudest decoded sample would exceed −0.1 dBFS. If you request 300% but one loud peak leaves room for only 110%, the whole recording receives about 110%. This keeps that sample below the ceiling instead of cutting its top off.

This is a fixed gain adjustment, not a compressor or a true-peak limiter. It does not make quiet speech louder independently of loud speech. MP3 encoding and later playback can change peaks, so this protection does not guarantee the exported audio can never distort. The processed peak shown describes the samples before MP3 encoding.

You may uncheck protection, but samples outside the output range are then clipped. A warning appears when clipping is expected, and the result shows the number of clipped channel samples. Start with protection on and listen before choosing a stronger setting.

MP3 volume booster or WAV export?

MP3 is convenient for sharing and offers 128 or 192 kbps output. It is genuinely encoded as MP3; the tool does not rename another format. Re-encoding is lossy and can add a small amount of padding. A higher output bitrate cannot restore quality already missing from the source.

WAV keeps the processed audio as 16-bit PCM and is usually much larger. Both choices use the audio decoded by this browser, normally at 44.1 kHz. Source metadata, artwork and extra tracks are not copied. Even 100% can change the file because decoding and exporting are still involved.

MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC input works only when the browser can decode its actual codec. Renaming an unsupported file does not make it playable.

What this tool can and cannot fix

Use it for a quiet recorded voice, a low-volume audio clip or a file that needs a gentler playback level. It changes the downloaded file, not your phone’s system volume, a streaming service or a video’s audio track.

Boosting also raises hiss, background noise and unwanted sounds. It cannot recover missing speech, repair an already distorted recording or turn silence into sound. A peak meter does not measure perceived loudness, and this tool does not target a particular LUFS value.

Limits and privacy

Choose one file up to 25 MB and 5 minutes. Mono and stereo are supported within a decoded limit of 30 million channel samples. A small compressed file can still use considerable memory when decoded; try a shorter recording if the device struggles.

The tool processes the file in this browser and does not upload its contents to our server, save it in browser storage or request microphone access. The website’s usual assets and analytics can load separately. Cancel stops export and discards the partial result. Keep the page open until it finishes.

Start playback at a low device volume, especially with headphones. Raise it gradually while comparing. The original file stays unchanged.

Common problems

Still too quiet: inspect the applied volume. A single loud peak may be limiting the whole file. Turning off protection can cause clipping; it is not a clean solution for every recording.

More hiss after boosting: that noise was already in the source and was raised with the voice. This tool does not remove it.

File will not open: try a playable MP3 or WAV in an up-to-date browser. Large decoded files or unsupported codecs may fail.

No difference at 100%: that setting is meant to keep the decoded amplitude unchanged. Use 150% or 200% for an increase.

Frequently asked questions

How can I increase MP3 volume online?

Choose the file, set a percentage, check the applied gain and export MP3. Compare the result with the original before downloading.

Can I make a voice recording louder?

Yes, if it contains usable sound. Noise becomes louder too, and clipping protection may limit the increase.

Does 200% sound twice as loud?

No. It requests twice the sample amplitude, about +6 dB without a cap. Perceived loudness depends on the recording and playback.

Why does 500% apply a much smaller increase?

The protection uses the source’s highest sample peak to cap the whole file’s gain. The applied value is shown before export.

Can this boost my phone volume or YouTube sound?

No. It creates a new version of a local audio file. It does not control device volume or streaming playback.

Can I reduce audio volume too?

Yes. Set 50% for half the sample amplitude, or another value between 25% and 100%, then export.

Is my audio uploaded or overwritten?

The tool processes it locally and creates a separate download. Your original is not overwritten.
