Paste two lists and quickly see what they share, what is missing from either list, and all unique items together. Use names, IDs, filenames or a single column copied from a spreadsheet.
Compare two lists
One item per line. Your text is processed in this browser and is not uploaded.
How to compare two lists
- Paste one item per line into List A and List B.
- Choose whether to ignore outer spaces or English letter case.
- Click Compare lists, then choose the result you need.
- Copy the result or download it as a UTF-8 TXT file.
What each result means
- Common: items present in both lists.
- Only in A: items in A that are missing from B.
- Only in B: items in B that are missing from A.
- All unique items: both lists combined without repetitions.
- Items in only one list: A-only and B-only entries together.
A simple example
List A: Apple, Banana, Mango, Apple. List B: Banana, Mango, Orange. Paste these on separate lines. Common items are Banana and Mango; only A contains Apple; only B contains Orange. The combined result has four unique items. The repeated Apple is counted and removed from the output.
Useful ways to use this tool
Check filenames before moving files, compare product IDs between exports, find missing names in two attendance lists, or compare two spreadsheet columns. Numeric-looking IDs remain text: 00123 and 123 are different items.
Matching rules and privacy
This compares complete entries, not their row positions. Blank lines are ignored. Repeated entries appear once in results. By default outer spaces are ignored and English case is significant. The common result keeps List A’s spelling and order. Text is processed locally in your browser. Each list supports up to 200,000 characters.
If the result looks wrong
Check spelling, punctuation and hidden characters copied from a PDF. Apple and apple match only with the case option enabled. Inner spaces still matter: a name with one space between words differs from the same name with two spaces. Put one spreadsheet column into each box; multiple columns, comma-separated CSV and fuzzy matching are not supported. This does not compare duplicate quantities or show line-by-line edits.
Frequently asked questions
How do I find items missing from the second list?
Put the original list in A and the second list in B. Choose Only in List A.
Can I compare Hindi names?
Yes. Hindi, English, numbers and emoji can be pasted as text. Visually similar Unicode spellings may still differ.
Can I paste a column from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes. Copy a single column and paste it into a box. This tool does not upload or open spreadsheet files.
What happens to duplicates?
Results contain each item once. The summary shows total entries, unique entries and repeats removed for each list.
Does list order affect matching?
No. An item can match anywhere in the other list. Results follow the first appearance order.
Will leading zeros disappear?
No. IDs are treated as text, so leading zeros are preserved.
Are my lists sent to a server?
The comparison runs in your browser without uploading the pasted text. Copy or download your result before leaving the page.
