Trim wordy phrases or expand contractions in assignment text. Check before-and-after word counts and your target gap with local, editable suggestions.
Improve a draft with a small, transparent set of phrase edits. Trim mode replaces wordy expressions with shorter alternatives. Expand / formal mode expands selected English contractions or changes a few Hindi expressions to formal wording. The proposed text remains editable in your own editor.
How to use
Paste the assignment and choose Trim or Expand / formal wording. Enter a target word count and select Compare / Check. The English page applies English rules and the Hindi page applies Hindi rules. Read the before-and-after counts, target gap and list of replacements. Copy or download the proposed text after reviewing it.

How the comparison works
Word count is the number of nonempty whitespace-separated groups. Hyphenated expressions and contractions count as one group; punctuation attached to a word is not counted separately. The same rule is used before and after edits. Your university editor may count differently. Target gap equals target minus the proposed text count; a negative gap means the result is over target.
Details
Trim examples include in order to → to, at this point in time → now and on a daily basis → daily. English formal edits include don’t → do not and we’re → we are, with listed straight-apostrophe versions. Hindi examples include वर्तमान समय में → अभी in Trim and मदद → सहायता in formal mode. The list is intentionally small and is shown in the result when used.
Limits
The input limit is 50,000 UTF-16 units; the target must be a whole number from 1 to 50,000. The tool does not generate new facts, arguments, summaries or paraphrases, and it cannot guarantee an exact target count. Expand mode may leave the count unchanged or even reduce it when formal wording uses fewer groups. Quotes, references, names and code are not automatically protected from phrase replacement.
Advice
Review every proposed replacement in context, especially quotes and cited material. Keep your original. To add useful words, add evidence, explain a method or discuss a limitation; to remove words, delete repeated ideas while preserving meaning. Avoid padding a draft with empty phrases just to reach a limit.
Frequently asked questions
Will it hit my target exactly?
No. The target shows a gap and does not force filler or truncate the draft.
Is this an AI rewriting service?
No. It applies a small local phrase-rule list.
Why does my editor show another count?
Editors use different word-count rules. This tool counts whitespace-separated groups.
Can I undo the edits?
Your original input remains unchanged. Clear only clears this tool’s fields.
