Generate SHA-256, SHA-384 or SHA-512 for a file and check an expected checksum.
How to use
Choose a file and algorithm. Optionally paste the checksum from a trusted source. Process, then review MATCH or MISMATCH and copy the hash.
Limitations
50 MB per file. Modern HTTPS browser with Web Crypto required. Hashes verify bytes against a reference, not whether a file is safe or malware-free. Use the same algorithm and a trusted expected hash. MD5 and SHA-1 are not included.
Privacy
Files and text are processed locally in the browser; they are not uploaded to the server.
FAQ
Does renaming a file change its hash?
No. Only file contents are hashed; the filename is not.
What if one byte changes?
The calculated hash will normally change.
Can I paste an uppercase hash?
Yes. Uppercase and lowercase hexadecimal hashes are treated equally.
