Image to Text Converter – Copy Hindi & English Text from Photos

Extract text from an image

Recognise printed English and Hindi text in JPG, PNG or WebP images. Maximum 10 MB, 16 megapixels. Your image is processed in your browser.

How to convert an image to text online

  1. Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP image up to 10 MB.
  2. Select the language printed in the image: English, Hindi or Hindi + English.
  3. Use Document for a normal page, or Sparse for separate text blocks.
  4. Rotate the image if its text is sideways, then press Extract text.
  5. Compare the result with the image, correct mistakes and copy the text or download a TXT file.

This image to text converter reads one image at a time. The result box is editable, so you can fix a spelling error before copying or saving. The TXT download uses the current contents of that box, including your corrections. It contains plain text rather than a recreated document layout.

Hindi OCR, English OCR and mixed text

Choose the language of the document, which can differ from the language of this webpage. Select Hindi + English for an image that contains both Devanagari and English writing. Loading two language models can take longer than loading one. On the first run, the converter needs to download its OCR engine and language data.

The tool is intended for clear printed text. Check Hindi matras, punctuation, names, dates, amounts and long numbers carefully. A result that looks plausible can still contain recognition mistakes. Do not rely on it as a verified transcription of a financial, legal or other important document.

Prepare a readable photo or screenshot

Use an image with sharp letters and good contrast. Crop unnecessary borders with your device’s image editor before choosing the file. For a photographed document, keep the camera parallel to the page, avoid shadows and glare, and make sure the words are large enough to read. A tiny screenshot or blurry photo cannot produce dependable text just because OCR is enabled.

If the writing is sideways, use Rotate image to turn it by 90, 180 or 270 degrees. The preview shows the image as processed. Rotation helps orientation; it does not flatten a curved book page or correct strong perspective distortion. Try a better photo when the source is difficult to read.

Copy text from a picture or save it as TXT

After recognition, you can edit the result directly. Copy text puts the current text on your clipboard when the browser permits it. If copying is unavailable, the tool selects the text so you can use your device’s Copy command. Download TXT saves a UTF-8 text file, suitable for Hindi and English characters.

OCR does not preserve the appearance of a table, coloured poster or formatted page. Columns, headings and line breaks can appear in a different order. If you need a faithful layout, keep the original image and format the recognised text yourself. This converter does not translate or rewrite what it reads.

Privacy, supported files and limits

The image is processed in your browser. This tool does not upload it to our server. It loads Tesseract.js, its OCR engine and language models from third-party CDNs, so an internet connection is needed for those downloads. The browser may cache language data to make later runs faster.

The image limit is 10 MB, 16 megapixels and no more than 8192 pixels along either edge. Larger images should be resized first. This tool accepts JPG, PNG and WebP; it does not accept PDF directly. Convert a PDF page to an image first. Use Cancel to stop a run; if a run takes too long, try a smaller image or one language.

Yes. This converter does not require payment or a new account.

Can it copy Hindi text from an image?

Can I upload a PDF?

Why are some letters or words wrong?

Small text, blur, glare, a wrong language selection or a complex layout can confuse OCR. Improve the source image and correct the output.
