Trim a video to 15, 30 or 60 seconds
For a clip starting at 1:10, enter that start time and press 30 s. The end becomes 1:40. If fewer than 30 seconds remain, the preset stops at the source’s end. It does not search for an interesting scene or generate extra footage.
To remove the beginning and ending of an eight-second source, you could keep 2 seconds to 6 seconds. This creates one continuous four-second selection. To keep several separate sections, cut them separately; joining clips or deleting a section from the middle is not included.
What changes during export?
This browser plays the selected section into a new recording, with canvas video at up to 30 frames per second and the playable audio routed into the recording. Export takes roughly the selection’s duration, potentially longer on a slower device. It is not instant lossless trimming or a frame-accurate editing tool. Timing can differ slightly at the boundaries, so check the exported clip.
The original file is not overwritten. Re-encoding can change picture quality, frame rate and color, including HDR. The selected long-edge limit is 1280, 720 or 480 pixels; the aspect ratio is preserved with dimensions rounded to even pixels. Smaller sources are not enlarged. Separate subtitle tracks, extra audio tracks, chapters and original metadata are not copied.
Shortening does not guarantee a smaller file at this recording bitrate. If you need an upload-size target, use the video compressor and check the final file size.
MP4, WebM and browser support
The tool shows the recording format supported by this browser. MP4 is preferred when supported; otherwise WebM may be used. The download extension matches the container. Even MP4 may contain a codec some phones or upload services do not accept, so test it in the receiving app. Renaming WebM to MP4 does not convert it.
MP4, MOV and WebM input depend on the codecs your browser can decode, not just the extension. Protected or damaged sources can fail. This version is for short local files, not streaming links, batch editing or long movies.
Limits and privacy
Input: 100 MB, 5 minutes, with a readable duration and no edge above 8192 pixels. Export: 0.5 seconds to 3 minutes per clip. Keep the tab in the foreground and the device awake. Switching tabs stops the job and discards its partial recording.
The cutter’s code processes the selected video in this browser. It does not upload its contents to our server, request microphone/camera permission or save it in browser storage. The site can load its usual assets and analytics separately. Only edit and share video you are allowed to use.
If recording is unavailable or playback stalls, try a smaller source in an up-to-date desktop Chrome or Edge. Browser performance varies, and this tool does not promise support on every phone.
Common problems
Times rejected: the start must be before the end and both inside the source. Write 1:30 for one minute thirty seconds; 1.30 means 1.3 seconds.
Cut feels slightly early or late: this is a browser recording, not frame-accurate stream copying. Adjust the times and check the exported result.
Work stopped after changing tabs: return to this page and start again with the tab visible.
The upload rejects the result: check both the file size and format/codec requirements of the destination.
Frequently asked questions
Can I cut an MP4 online without uploading it?
Yes, when the browser can decode it. This cutter processes the selected file locally and generates a new recording.
How do I make a 30-second video clip?
Choose a start and press 30 s. If the source has enough remaining time, the end is set 30 seconds later. Export and check the result.
Will the cut video keep its sound?
The browser’s playable source audio is routed into the recording. Check the exported clip; extra audio tracks are not preserved separately.
Is this a lossless video trimmer?
No. The selected section is re-encoded, so quality and timing can change.
Will I always get MP4?
No. The tool shows MP4 or WebM according to this browser’s recording support. Codec compatibility also varies.
Can I remove a section from the middle or join clips?
No. This tool exports one continuous selected section. It does not stitch two remaining parts together.
Why does trimming take as long as the selected clip?
The browser plays and records the section in real time. Keep this tab visible and check the result when it finishes.
