How to cut an MP3 online

  1. Choose an audio file up to 25 MB and 5 minutes. It must be playable and decodable by this browser.
  2. Play the original to find the section. Enter start and end times, or use the buttons to copy the player’s current position.
  3. Write seconds such as 75.5, or minutes:seconds such as 1:15.5. The highlighted waveform shows the selection; it is an overview, not a draggable editor.
  4. Choose MP3 or WAV. For MP3, select 128 or 192 kbps. Leave the short fade on if you want softer edges.
  5. Click Cut and create download. Listen to the exported clip, then save it.

Make a 30-second ringtone from a song

If the section you want starts at 1:10, enter that as the start and choose the 30 s preset. The end becomes 1:40, or the end of the source if fewer than 30 seconds remain. The presets set the length from your current start; they do not search for a chorus or automatically pick the best part.

You can also cut a voice note: start at 2.5 seconds and end at 8.5 seconds to export a six-second clip. The tool keeps the chosen audio channels. It does not separate vocals, remove background noise or combine files.

MP3 and WAV downloads

MP3 is re-encoded at the selected bitrate and is convenient for smaller clips. Re-encoding can change quality; choosing a higher bitrate cannot restore detail already missing from the source. MP3 encoding may add a little padding at the edges, so the player’s reported duration can differ slightly from the selected length.

WAV is an uncompressed 16-bit PCM export of the decoded selection and can be much larger. Both formats are generated from audio decoded by this browser; the sample rate may be changed during decoding. This is not a lossless MP3 frame cutter. Cover art, lyrics and original metadata are not copied.

Fade applies a short 0.1-second ramp at both ends. It helps soften an abrupt start or stop; it does not clean noise or boost volume. Turn it off if you need the selected samples without this fade.

File limits and privacy

Input: up to 25 MB, 5 minutes, mono or stereo. Export: from 0.1 seconds to 3 minutes per clip. MP3, WAV, M4A, OGG or FLAC may work when your browser supports their codecs. Protected or unsupported files can fail; changing an extension does not convert them.

The cutter’s code processes file contents in this browser, without uploading audio to our server or saving it in browser storage. No microphone permission is requested. The original stays on your device; download creates a new file. The site can load its usual assets and analytics separately.

Long or compressed sources still need memory when decoded. A phone may struggle with a file that fits the size limit. If decoding fails, try a shorter source or an up-to-date desktop browser. Only use audio you are allowed to edit and share.

Common problems

The times are rejected: the start must be before the end and both must be inside the audio. Use 1:30 for one minute thirty seconds; 1.30 means 1.3 seconds.

The clip is longer by a fraction of a second: MP3 encoders add padding. Try WAV when you need the decoded selection without MP3 padding.

The file does not load: the browser may not support its codec, or the source may exceed the time limit. Try another playable file.

The phone did not set a ringtone: this tool creates an audio file. You must select/import it using the phone’s own ringtone workflow. It does not export M4R or change phone settings.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cut an MP3 online without uploading it?

Yes. This cutter processes the selected file in your browser and offers a new audio download.

How do I make a ringtone from my own song file?

Choose the source, set a short section, export MP3 and listen to the result. Then use your phone’s own ringtone settings or import workflow.

Can I cut M4A or WAV and download MP3?

Yes, when your browser can decode the input. The output is newly encoded MP3, not a renamed source file.

How do I choose an exact part of the audio?

Enter start and end in seconds or M:SS, with up to three decimal places. MP3 may add edge padding; WAV exports the decoded selected samples.

Does cutting an MP3 keep the same quality?

This tool decodes and re-encodes MP3, so quality can change. It does not claim lossless MP3 cutting.

Does this create an iPhone M4R ringtone?

No. It exports MP3 or WAV only and does not install or set a ringtone on any phone.

Can I cut a full long recording or several files at once?

No. Choose one source up to five minutes and export a section up to three minutes. Batch processing and audio joining are not included.
